LIFE Stories
We pull together both traditional and non-traditional services in order to support the individual and allow them to maintain their independence and live in the community.
Audrey, 78
LIFE Pittsburgh Participant since 2006
Audrey’s Story
Audrey was born and raised in Pittsburgh. She worked downtown and raised two children independently. She lives with her daughter and son-in-law, but her other child, grandchildren and great granddaughter all live nearby and visit regularly. Even when Audrey is at LIFE Pittsburgh, she is cheering on the Steelers with her black and gold walker, earrings, bracelet, watch and clothes.
Audrey typically attends LIFE Pittsburgh three days per week, but has increased to five days per week at times based on her health status. Audrey participates in a variety of activities at the Day Health Center. She receives a pre-filled pill box every week from her nurse at the Day Health Center. Audrey has bonded with her Social Worker over their mutual love of "Law & Order." Audrey’s daughter has established a relationship with her mother’s "multi-disciplinary team" at LIFE Pittsburgh and actively participates in and supports her mother’s care.
